Newborns
What is the best age to photograph a newborn?
Newborns are best photographed within the first 1-2 weeks of their life. During this time babies will usually retain some of the natural curl from when they were in the womb. The first week works best to get peaceful sleepy and very curly poses.
When should I schedule my Newborn session?
Your newborn photo session should take place during the first 12 days of your baby's life, but it's never too soon to book your session with us. We do photograph newborns who are older than 12 days, too, but your session may be a little different than our traditional newborn session.
I advise that you book your session while you are still pregnant ; after around 5-6 months of your pregnancy. While I will do my best to accommodate last minute bookings, to ensure the very best service it is essential for me to pencil in your due date well ahead of your baby’s arrival.
What type of Newborn Session should I choose?
Studio Session: Our studio has tons of gorgeous natural light that helps give our photos that soft and gentle look for which we've become known in the industry. We also work with studio lighting to create some more dramatic effects. Our studio is kept comfy and warm, and there's plenty of room for you to sit back and relax after those first long nights of parenthood. We will work with you during your pre-session consultation to decide the perfect colors.
Lifestyle Session: For our lifestyle newborn sessions, we come to your home and photograph your newborn baby in their own environment. We focus more on your interactions with them as they become accustomed to you and their big, new beautiful world.
Who should be in the photos?
In addition to that cute little one, I always urge you to have photos taken with your new baby. They are only this little for such a short time, and capturing that emotion during those first few days is just amazing. We know you may be feeling a little tired, but it's something you'll never regret...and I always make sure you're looking your best! You can also include siblings and even pets, if you like!
How long does a newborn session last?
Sessions typically last for around 4 hours, depending on how hungry or sleepy baby is feeling. I want you to feel completely relaxed and enjoy every moment of your session without feeling rushed or overwhelmed; allowing plenty of time for feeding and cuddling. Babies tend to eat more often during a session; if you are bottle feeding please bring an extra bottle of milk.
Do you have props (like baskets, hats etc.)?
I do have props in my studio, however my props are minimalistic. I prefer not to use big bright hats, flowers, backdrops etc. My style is clean, simple and organic. I prefer not to overuse accessories.
When you look at my photographs I would like you to see the baby and not a hat with huge pom poms; for that reason my styling remains minimalistic. I believe that simple pictures are the ones that are timeless!
You are welcome to bring your own accessories to your session.
Maternity
When should I schedule my Maternity photo session?
As soon as you find out you're pregnant, you should consider scheduling your maternity photo session. We will schedule you between weeks 32 and 36 of your pregnancy.
Where will my photo session take place?
Your maternity photo session can take place in our studio, in your home, or in an outdoor area. I love to make sure you're the most comfortable during your session, so I take extra care in my home studio to make you feel at home; however, if you feel more comfortable elsewhere, we always love to try out new session locations.
Who should be in the photos?
You and your beautiful belly can be the only subjects in your photos, because, let's face it, you look fabulous!
But, it's always nice to have your husband, partner, or baby's sibling(s) join in for a few extra special photos.
